Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Pharez Menu handles and why. We aim to follow Ethiopia’s Personal Data Protection Proclamation No. 1321/2024. We collect as little as we can.
1. Two groups of people
- Guests who open a restaurant’s menu by scanning a QR code or link.
- Clients and their team (owners, managers, staff) who log in to the dashboard or contact us.
2. What we collect
| Who | Data | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Guests | An anonymous menu-view record: which restaurant’s menu was opened, and when. Your language choice may be kept on your own device. We do not ask guests for names, phone numbers or accounts. | To show restaurants how many people view their menu. |
| Clients and team | Name, email address, phone number, role, restaurant details, login credentials (passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider), and the menu content you upload. | To provide and secure the service, invoice you and give support. |
| People who contact us | What you send in the contact form, email or WhatsApp. | To reply to you and prepare quotes. |
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not run advertising trackers on menu pages.
- We do not collect payment card details through the menu.
4. Legal basis
We handle Client data to perform our contract, guest view statistics for our legitimate interest in running a menu service, and contact enquiries with your consent or to respond to your request.
5. Who we share data with
- Service providers that run the platform for us: our database, authentication and file-storage provider (Supabase) and our web hosting provider. They process data on our instructions.
- The restaurant whose menu was viewed, which sees aggregated view counts, not individual guests.
- Authorities where the law requires it.
6. Where data is stored
Menu and account data is stored with our cloud database provider, which may keep it on servers outside Ethiopia. We use contractual and technical safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls and per-restaurant data separation) to protect it.
7. How long we keep it
- Menu-view records: up to 24 months, then deleted or aggregated.
- Client account and menu data: for the length of the service, then removed within 90 days of the end of the agreement (except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons).
- Contact enquiries: up to 24 months.
8. Your rights
You may ask us to tell you what data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for a purpose. Email us and we will reply within 30 days. You may also complain to the Ethiopian data protection authority.
9. Security
We use access controls, role-based permissions and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify affected Clients and the authorities as the law requires.
10. Children
The service is for businesses and is not directed at children.
11. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and show the date at the top.
