Frequently asked
Straight answers for restaurant owners
About QR menus, ordering, cost, cafés and hotels in Ethiopia.
Do my customers need to download an app?
No. They scan the QR code with their phone camera and the menu opens in their browser. No app, no account, works on any Android or iPhone.
Can guests order from the menu?
Yes. Guests add dishes and either place the order in the app (you see it on a kitchen screen with live status) or send it to you on WhatsApp or Telegram. They pay at the restaurant. Online payment such as Telebirr or CBE is planned but not live yet.
Can I keep my printed menus too?
Yes, and most clients do at first. We design your printed menu or table cards and digital menu together, so you can run both side by side. See Print Menus.
How do I update a price or add a dish?
From your dashboard, yourself. Add a dish, change a price or mark something sold out and it is live immediately. Our team is there for support, not as a step you have to go through.
Can my staff have their own access too?
Yes. Give a manager full control, or give front-of-house staff a limited login that can only mark items sold out and handle orders during service.
What if my restaurant's internet is unreliable?
Guests use their own mobile data to view the menu, so you do not need Wi-Fi for the QR menu to work. A Lite mode keeps it fast on slow connections. Your kitchen screen does need internet to receive in-app orders.
Which languages can the menu show?
English, Amharic, Afaan Oromoo, Tigrigna, Somali, Arabic, French and Chinese. Guests switch with one tap. Chinese is popular with visitors to Addis Ababa.
How is this different from a generic QR menu app?
Most apps leave you to build everything from a blank template. Pharez Menu is built for you first, a premium editorial menu designed and digitized by our team, then handed over with full dashboard access.
What is a digital menu or QR menu?
A digital menu is your restaurant menu on a web page. A QR menu puts a QR code on your tables so guests open that page by scanning it with their phone camera. Pharez Menu builds and manages both for restaurants, cafés and hotels in Ethiopia.
Do you offer a QR menu service in Addis Ababa and across Ethiopia?
Yes. We are based in Addis Ababa, where we design, print and install your table cards. Restaurants, cafés and hotels elsewhere in Ethiopia can use the same digital menu, with the QR cards delivered to you.
Is a digital menu suitable for cafés and hotels?
Yes. Cafés use it for coffee, breakfast and juice menus with photos. Hotels and multi-branch groups use it for restaurant, bar and room menus managed from one account. Ask about the Multi-Branch & Hotel package.
What is a paperless, contactless restaurant menu?
A menu guests read on their own phone instead of a shared paper menu. It saves printing costs, stays clean and is always up to date, because you change it once and every guest sees the change.
How much does a digital menu cost in Ethiopia?
Digital Only is 4,000 ETB per year and Print + Digital is 6,000 ETB per year. Multi-Branch and hotel setups are quoted individually. See the packages page.
Can you design my printed menu?
Yes. We design and print card, tri-fold, hardcover book and table-stand menus in Addis Ababa, with your QR code built in. See Print Menus.
